Banksy: Disrupted Power

About the Exhibition

PaintingSculpture

Moco Museum Barcelona, in a 16th-century palace on Carrer de Montcada in El Born, shows 25 original works by Banksy, every one of them authenticated by Pest Control, the only body the artist recognises. The museum calls it the most significant update of its Banksy room since it opened, and Catalan News described it as the largest exhibition of his work ever held in Spain. The new presentation opened on 16 December 2025.

Two recent pieces are on view in a museum for the first time: Madonna and Child (2024), a nursing mother painted on a piece of rusted scrap metal, and Happy Choppers (Crude Oil), military helicopters dropped into a peaceful autumn landscape. Alongside them hang classics such as Girl with Balloon (Gold), Love is in the Air (Red), Laugh Now and Flower Thrower, plus Bullet Hole Bust (2006), a classical bust pierced by a bullet that Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie bought directly from the artist after his Los Angeles show Barely Legal.

The thread running through the room is power: authority, control, vulnerability and resistance, and the way they slip into the most intimate everyday spaces. Because the works are certified originals, it is a rare chance to see Banksy in person rather than reproductions.

Banksy sits within Moco’s Contemporary Masters collection, so the same ticket also covers Warhol, Basquiat, Haring, Hirst, Dalí and the museum’s digital art rooms. Allow 60 to 90 minutes. The museum is a five-minute walk from Jaume I metro (L4), next to the Picasso Museum, and is wheelchair accessible. As with every museum show of his work, the exhibition is not authorised by Banksy. Moco has not announced a closing date; tickets are on sale until 31 December 2026.
